Blackened Yet BurnedI.
The blackness envelopes;
The pain goes away.
Into the confusion of bliss
I fall.

II.
Without light to guide me
I cannot go astray.
A soft, caressing touch,
And I back against a wall.

III.
The black stranger reaches out;
His smoke clings to the air.
I turn and flee his burnt hand,
But my life collapses behind me.

IV.
Nobody stops.
Nobody stares.
Nobody sees me.
Nobody cares.

V.
A kindly voice lifts me up,
But it's owner I can't see.
I smile weakly towards him,
But the blackness returns.

VI.
I can't hear the sounds.
I can't see the light.
I can feel the heat,
Encompassing me, taking me away.
